Queer as Folk 1 & 2 (UK original series)
U.S./Canada - compatible (region1 NTSC) Videos 1. Differences between the U.S./Canada video release, and the original UK-original video release (courtesy of Alan Light and C1TV): a) audio: Some of the music has been replaced for the North American Home Video distribution. Because the original soundtrack was never cleared for US distribution, the original producers, RED Productions, insisted on selecting and re-mixing the new music for the North American home video release. They wanted it to maintain its integrity and the North American Video and DVD has had some music replaced. b) video: The video has essentially be left entirely intact. *Warning: possible spoiler: In Queer as Folk 1, there are a couple of scenes have been slightly re-arranged and the Dr. Who TV scenes have been cut (When Vince plops down on his couch and aims his remote control at the TV set, in the original we think he's perhaps going to watch porn but he's actually watching a Dr. Who episode. In the C1TV edit, he aims his remote at the TV and the scene cuts away. Instead of fading out on the Dr. Who theme, it fades out on Nathan's face, looking up at Stuart, saying "Slowly....really." Then it picks up next morning.). There are no known video differences in Queer as Folk 2 from the original. c) DVD-disc: The Queer as Folk 1 (DVD) is anamorphic-enhanced (can adapt to a variety of screen sizes); Queer as Folk 2 (DVD) is not anamorphic (the lack of anamorphic enhancement only affects those with big screen and/or widescreen HDTV sets who want the video enhanced for their screensize. It will look fine on smaller sets regardless). Questions? Comments? Email me. |
